During the week beginning 18th April, 2016, the Zone’s junior bowlers’ played each other for the Zone Junior Singles, Pairs & Fours Championships titles and for the privilege to play in the State Junior Championships at Warilla BC from11th to 16th July,2016. Quite a welcome change not having to play other Districts for the right to win a Zone title.
The weather held for their games over three days and the guys are to be congratulated on the excellent bowls provided for the numerous spectators. The venue, Pacific Palms BC, is to be congratulated on being a great host for the three days and the Committee members and staff were very obliging in providing any assistance that was required. Well done the Palms!
The results of the Championships saw Lewis Williams winning the three titles; in the Fours with Caleb Haynes, Jake Reid and Luke Agar; in the Pairs with Luke Agar. The Finals were noteworthy for the great bowls played by all involved, with the heads changing on many occasions. The players’ defeated in the earlier rounds were not in any way disgraced and will benefit from their experiences this year.
The Zone congratulates the winners and wishes them every success at Warilla in July.
