Zone 11 Bowling Association Inc.

Jake Reid of Pacific Palms BC, the elder statesman of our small Zone squad, repaid
his selection in the NSW CHS Side to play in the Australian Schools Super Series at
Darebin BC in Victoria recently.
This was the first time that this Fixture has been played and Jake was in the NSW
Green team which won the series overall. He skipped the Pairs and Fours teams and
came away with gold for overall, gold for the Fours and Silver for the Pairs.
This was a tremendous effort on his and his team’s part and was illustrative of his
ability which has developed over some years. I am sure that the State Selectors will
have taken heed of his results.
Next month, the annual Cities versus Country Series will be played at Cabramatta
BC, albeit under a new format. This year, the Selectors have picked 20 boys and 20
girls to play in four teams of ten over three “tests”. The Selectors may vary the
teams’ compositions and positions to observe the players’ ability to handle change.
I am pleased to advise that, this year, our Zone has three representatives – Jake
Reid & Malachy McTaggart (Pacific Palms) and Eva Williams (Forster).
This is a huge step for Eva and I am sure she will repay the Selectors faith in
selecting her. Eva has shown tremendous potential from day one and will surprise
many bowlers’ during the coming years.
