Manning district and Zone 6 representative, Dylan Riley, has been selected to represent NSW country in the annual City V’s Country clash to be held at Cabramatta Bowling Club on the 8th & 9th of November. Dylan will join fellow zone 6 rep’s Simon Mitchell and Brendon Baker for the journey to the ” Big Smoke ” to hopefully help bring the coveted trophy out to the ” Sticks “. The district wishes Dylan and the entire country team the very best of luck.
Last week we also seen the completion of the state championships for 2014 down at Ettalong Bowling Club. The Manning district was well represented, as it has been in the previous couple of years, Brian Wilson, Dave Richardson and Steve Harris in the open triples, Noel James in the senior singles and for the second time running Mark Pennings in the reserve singles.
Noel had a very good start to the campaign having two god wins on the first day of the singles play offs, the semi final on day two proved a bit more challenging. Noel looked to be in control of the afternoon semi until his opponent Micheal Beasley from Beresfield found another gear, and ran out with the match. Our other two hopes didn’t fair so well both being eliminated in the first encounter, however they need not be discouraged, as our triples combo were knocked out by the eventual winner from Taren Point and Mark Pennings was defeated by the runner up. The district congratulates these fellows on their achievements and efforts this year.
The MDBA would also like to remind members that the annual presentation night is to be held at the Sporties Tuncurry on Friday the 7th of November and everyone is most welcome to attend so come and celebrate our champions.
