Zone 11 Bowling Association Inc.

Over the last couple of weekends bowls has continued in the Manning, with the last of the district championships, Champion of champion singles and pairs, being run and won.

A fortnight ago the C of C singles were played out and it came down to Wayne O’Neil form Lansdown BC and Bob O’mahoney  from Taree Leagues. Both boys had to play hard to get to the final, and once there they didn’t disappoint. With the battle on shots were hard to come by, but some how Wayne seemed to be sneaking a head with every end. When the dust settled the score line didn’t indicate the quality of the match, and Wayne O’Neil ran out the winner of the day 31-12. Congratulations are extended to Wayne and Lansdown BC and good luck in the Zone playoffs.

The C of C pairs came to its conclusion this weekend, and once again upset was the word of the day. Daniel Dawes and Daniel Jessup from Pacific Palms accounts for Dylan and Dom Riley on an extra end. In the other semi Steve Harris and John Treasure from Tuncurry brought to an end the journey of Brendon Romeo and Rod Pernell by the slightest of margins. The final once again sighted up to be and absolute “CRACKER”. Early stages of the game seen the score line seesaw. Then the boys from the Palms kept chipping away and edged out to a slim lead that couldn’t be run down by the Tuncurry pair. The District congratulates Daniel and Daniel, and wish them the very best of luck in the up coming zone playoffs.

The attention of players now turn to the state inter zone championships to be held at Dubbo this weekend, and we have six players from the manning, Rex Johnston, Ryan McGuire, Dylan Riley, Phil Scott-Young, Dave Richardson and Martin Gosper, representing Zone 6. We wish them all the very best in their endeavors to hopefully bring the inter zone trophy back to Zone 6 for the very first time.
