Zone 11 Bowling Association Inc.

Last weekend saw the start of the 2016 Pennant Season, when the No. 1 Pennant competition kicked off with their first double header on their programme. Not all scheduled matches were played and another change was agreed, with the State Match Committee giving credence to their assisting Clubs’ with the Pennant Schedule.

Our local Clubs did not fare well in the opening matches. Taree West hosted North Haven on Friday night, going down by 3; Forster hosted Westport on Saturday , going down by 5; Forster then travelled to North Haven on Sunday and received a reality check. The West boys had a bye in round 2 and Tuncurry Beach are yet to fire a shot in anger – a bye and a deferral as agreed.

In view of other results from the opening two Rounds, it would seem that our local Sides will experience stronger opposition than in previous years and constructive practise may have to be on their schedule. Results may be accessed from the Bowls NSW Web Site, commencing on the Home Page under Match and follow the prompts.

Meanwhile, the Grade 2 to 7 Pennants Competitions get under way this weekend, the draws having recently been finalised due to Appeals and forwarded to all Clubs – one assumes that they have been placed on the Club’s Notice Board for perusal. There are differing formats this year as against previous years, due to the nominations received by the Zone Match Committee, which will create additional interest. Please consult your Notice Board.

In the meantime, the Zone wishes all Clubs’ the very best of luck in their 2016 Season matches.
