During the first week of the April school holidays, our District juniors played for the 2014 titles in the Singles, Pairs and Fours Championships at Taree Leagues BC in reasonable conditions for bowls.
First up was the Fours which saw Caleb Haynes (TL), Alex Hicks (F), Ryan and Keeley McGuire (T) taking out the title when they defeated Luke Agar, Lewis Williams, Jake Reid (all of PP) and Jaison Redman (BH).
The Pairs were decided on Tuesday, with Ryan & Keeley McGuire winning the Championship from Jake Reid & Jaison Redman. The final was an excellent game of bowls and the many spectators – including social bowlers playing on the adjacent green – were very appreciative of the skills and abilities exhibited by the four players.
The Singles Final saw Ryan McGuire play Jaison Redman for the title. Jaison has been successful previously but Ryan proved too strong on the day and won the 2014 title.
The District congratulates the winners and wishes them the best of luck in the Zone Championships, being played at Forster BC for this year, on 17th & 18th May.
