The Zone Senior Inter-Zone side, in a narrow loss to Zone 9, were knocked out of the State Inter-Zone Sides Championship in the quarter finals. In a match where we trailed by as much as 20 shots, we showed excellent fighting spirit to take this match down to the wire. With just 2 ends to play, and 2 rinks still in progress, we trailed by 3 shots. A score of 1 on one of the rinks meant that we needed a 2 on the final end. Alas, it was not to be and we went down in a gallant defeat.
In sectional play we lost our first game to the strong Newcastle Zone 2 side, despite winning on two of our rinks. We then lost to Zone 8 by 1-9. This left us in the precarious position of having to won 10-0 against Zone 13, and hope that Zone 2 defeated Zone 8 by 10-0. Both of those results came to pass, and we proceeded into the quarter finals because of our 2 rink wins against Zone 2.
